👥

Who can join

Homeowners and renters, plus schools, churches, community and business buildings can all apply.

🔋

What's installed

We install a battery and, if needed, energy monitoring devices in your property (these remain owned by Powering Together Lancaster).

💷

How does this save me money?

The battery will enable you to access lower-cost energy rates which, combined with energy monitoring devices, will help you to lower your bills.

🤝

How does this support the community?

Powering Together Lancaster uses a small part of installed batteries to buy and sell power from/to the grid, creating a surplus income. This is then used to buy more batteries for occupiers who otherwise couldn't afford them, making lower-cost energy available for more people.

How it works

1

Register Interest

Tell us a bit about you and your property using our quick online form. It only takes a few minutes. We'll review your details and see if your home, business, or organisation is suitable to take part.

2

Share Issue

We fund the first round of batteries by offering an investment in our project. By funding the batteries, investors will help more people access lower-cost energy and receive a modest return on their investment. We'll release more details nearer the time.

3

Install Devices

After our funding round, if you're eligible for a battery, one of our local partners will contact you to help you get set up. This will include a battery, and might additionally include installing or connecting smart devices, thermostats, or energy monitors, all at no cost to you.

4

Start Saving

Once you're up and running, you'll start seeing how your energy is used and be able to benefit from lower-cost energy, helping to reduce your bills. The programme runs for 10 years, but don't worry, if you move home or premises in this time, we have mechanisms to deal with this.

Powering Together Lancashire uses the Social Virtual Power Plant model.

🔋

Each participating property has a battery installed, paid for and owned by Powering Together Lancaster. A small portion of that battery is automatically used to generate revenue from the grid.

♻️

This generates income for Powering Together Lancaster, which is then used to buy more batteries for occupiers who otherwise couldn't afford them.

💡

The rest of the battery remains available for the occupier to store and use lower-cost electricity themselves, helping reduce their energy bills.
